The concept of beauty and glamor is an ever changing presence that evolves over time and reflects the current state of any society. As a child I was shown the stylized view of what female beauty was supposed to be through the movies and television with these mediums setting up what was supposed to represent what all men wanted women to be. Watching movies after school I would see classic movie stars usually in some glamorous or exotic setting, always presented in perfect form.
Playing off of that ideal, this series of images takes head shots of the period and alters them, distorting half of the page and eliminating or highlighting features making the subject recognizable and at the same time obscured leaving it up to you the viewer to determine who the individual is that is being shown to you.
